The «Women in Politics» project aims to empower women in Bosnia and Herzegovina to actively participate in political decision-making processes, take on leadership roles and thus create a more inclusive and equitable political landscape in BiH in the long term. In cooperation with local partners CURE Foundation and Budućnost, the project focuses on improving the framework conditions for women in politics, their successful participation in the 2024 local elections and the creation of a supportive environment for women leaders.
The project's approach is gender-transformative and challenges patriarchal structures that restrict women's political participation. Through targeted capacity building, mentoring and intra-party alliances, women are promoted as leaders and encouraged to take on political responsibility. An intersectional approach is pursued that takes into account the specific needs of women from marginalized groups in order to ensure diversity and inclusion. Human rights principles form the basis of the project to ensure equality and the realization of fundamental rights for all participants.
To achieve the project goals, comprehensive training and mentoring programs are being developed to support women in their political work and strengthen Another focus is on gender-specific election monitoring, which documents and analyzes inequalities during the 2024 local elections. Digital tools are provided to promote the networking and visibility of participants. At the same time, intra-party alliances are being built to increase support for women within political parties. Advocacy campaigns and public relations work serve to anchor gender-equitable politics and governance among the general public and political decision-makers.
The project is aimed at women in politics and civil society, but also at men in political leadership positions and the general public.
