Hiam Abbass, the French-Palestinian actress known for her role as Marcia Roy, the unapologetic wife of media mogul Logan Roy in Brian Cox's successful HBO series Succession, shares her own story in this touching memoir film, directed by her daughter, Lina Soualem. As global attention focuses on the intense violence of the Israeli military assault on Gaza, Bye Bye Tiberias offers audiences a different perspective on the Palestinian experience. This film, both an homage and a love letter, follows four generations of Lina’s family, exploring the pain and richness of a Palestinian heritage passed down through the maternal line.
Following the screening, a conversation with journalist and feminist activists Niloofar Rasooli will provide insights into patriarchal societal structures and the struggles of the Muslim women’s movement.
